Light Therapy

Light Therapy is the use of light to promote healing or maintain optimal health and balance.

It is used to treat a variety of conditions including psoriasis, eczema and Vitamin D deficiency. If you or someone you know is suffering with skin conditions such as psoriasis or eczema, you may benefit from our light therapy treatments. UVB penetrates the skin and slows the growth of the affected cells.

Light can also enhance your mood, give you more energy and reduce food cravings. UVB is effective for making Vitamin D in human skin and is especially useful to those that cannot obtain adequate amounts of UVB from natural sunlight and are not able to absorb adequate amounts of Vitamin D from food or oral supplements.  When UVB light interacts with your skin, it triggers the formation of Vitamin D. Vitamin D stimulates the production of feel-good brain chemicals such as serotonin.

We are Vernon’s only provider of ultraviolet light therapy which includes PUVA and UVB. We are dermatologist trained and provide safe, guided therapy to ensure you receive the safest yet most effective treatment possible.  You do not need a referral from a physician to use our light therapy. If you have psoriasis or eczema, you are most likely under the care of your family physician and he/she can monitor your progress as usual. You can conveniently receive treatments in our Vernon clinic without the need to travel to bigger centers. For more information on light therapy, please call us at 542-2721.
